so i sort of self imploded last night. i had ideas which were difficult to execute and i'm tired of parodying other people's shots (i.e. my very limited photoshop skills caught up with me) although i might find something else to parody before the month ends.
when i took up hospitality management in the mid-90's with the goal of switching careers, one of the courses dealt with housekeeping which is the part of hoteling that deals with cleanliness, and presentation of a hotel room to the guest. here we learned how to make the bathroom a little bit special by the artful placement of towels and amenities such as soap, shampoo, facial tissue and, yes, you guessed it, the toilet paper. there were a few toilet paper designs that the housekeeper-instructor taught us, including a full bloom of a rose (difficult) to simple pleating.
as a consumer, and having done a lot of travelling which involved staying at hotels, i have an appreciation for the efforts that hotel staff, especially the housekeepers. but i think it's a waste because i always removed that fancy part of the toilet paper and would never use it and just threw it away. even this one i wouldn't use and perhaps even the rest of the roll. i simply want my toilet paper straight out of the package!
I always like to see that attention to detail when staying in a hotel. Whether or not the decorative feature is there though, the first part of the toilet roll gets discarded, so for me, it is no more wastage to have it. Your photoshop skills, by the way, are more advanced than you think.
Do you know there's a great kind of a challenge going on at Instagram? It's called in Dutch #tussenkunstenquarantaine (between art and quarantaine). It's all about recreating famous works of art in your own way. It's hilariously funny what people come up with! And you can actually use your tp without PS ;)
Maybe we can start this challenge on 365 during quarantaine time!
