this is a sculpture by toronto artist john mcewen and was inspired by Lake Iroquois and the glaciers that once covered Toronto. apparently, this is one of a pair so i would have to go back there and find the other one. another drive by shot during my bus ride from the dentist last monday afteroon.
someone was asking where are all the snow? we had a few days of plus temperatures so the ones on the ground have melted and gone to the lake through the sewer system and some, mounds and mounds of them are waiting for a spring thaw. on the bottom left of the photo, you can see a now-have-melted little pile of snow.
i kind of like the reflection of the traffic light at the top. it makes one's brain confused, doesn't it.
It is a unique looking scupture! I think it looks like a whiskey bottle! That is not a lot of snow either but enough to say you have a winter! The reflected light gives the photo a surreal feel!
Despite the red light, the traffic light isn't where I looked first. As a matter of fact, I didn't really notice it until I read your comments. The sculpture had my attention.
the traffic light addition is quite bazzare. It is an interesting sculpture - looks like an oversized bottle next to the animal standing on a sea shell. I am sure there is an explanation for this!
