it was announced today by our provincial government that we are on another four weeks of lockdown because we are on the verge of a third wave. it is frustrating that after one year, haven't they realized that lockdowns, shutdowns, whatever they want to call it, isn't working? maybe it's time we tried herd immunity but protect the elderly, the sick and the children. they blame the numerous variants, the ICUs getting crowded, our hospitals are at full capacity. the number of new cases has dramatically risen the last couple of weeks. it never ends!
i couldn't think of anything for my one-subject april and i'm not up to scouring the backroom for any toy or props. and since we are once again on a stay-at-home order, i think i will stick to the lucky bamboo on my dining table. i'm sure i will come up with thirty ways to shoot this inside. if i come up with a brilliant idea for shooting this outside then i shall consider it.
Oh sorry to hear that! After some good months (December - Feb) cases are rising here too and more restrictions are pushed through. Wednesday they announced that schools have to transfer to online again. On top of that all "organized" sports are cancelled. Fortunately the beaches have been open since a few weeks and I really hope stay open...
Gorgeous image.
Well, where i live, the third wave is at high tide. No lockdown. Just some restrictions.
But. The thing is, in my little head: the Spanish flu pandemic wore out in about 2 years. No anti viral medicine (almost like today, funny that since 1918 they haven't concentrated on that), no vaccine (today we have), no technical equipment (that we have today).
Their measures were mainly distancing, masks and hygiene.
But i also understand that the hospital units are at full capacity and the lockdowns should get some relief on them. But have they, so far? I'm just wondering, from under my rock where i have sat for the last year. And i am not complaining. I am trying to do my best out of it.
We're not at war, we're have food, entertainment and all we can think of. Yet we wish to go abroad...
Sounds like a plan! I like your little bamboo.
I eventually worked out that lockdowns in the UK certainly were all about protecting the NHS and the hospital system from being overwhelmed, that was all. Killed the economy and caused so much pain for so many, but they achieved the goal and the NHS never broke. Hoping we are all out of this thing soon. Had my first vaccine earlier this week. Still feel rough as old boots, but better than catching the thing.
I feel your frustration! I know everybody wants answers and a solution but I think patience is what is required.
I like your 30 days subject and I’m so excited to see all the creative ways you come up to use it. At some point I think you should seriously consider putting a mask on it! This photo is magnificent because of the lighting.
I can imagine it must feel like the jail door slammed shut again. I heard someone else today talk of the difficulties Canada has been having (an ex pat living here in town with the story relayed by a friend of hers). I have confidence that you will find clever and creative ways to show your bamboo plant.
I like your composition and the black background. As far as the Covid, I don't think you can reach herd immunity since the immunity doesn't seem to last long enough to get everyone immune at the same time. Good luck with the lockdown. Encourage everyone to get the vaccine.
