@farmreporter organized a really fun meet up. we started saturday at the ruins of St. Raphael and there we met adi
@adi314 and a few of wendy's camera club friends but only the two men in the photo were able to join us later at the winery. earlier, dora
@dora (centre) and sylvia
@sprphotos (next to adi) came to wendy and bruce's house.
we were rained on at the ruins but that wasn't a deterrent to the photographers. my nikon just stopped for a while when it really got cold with the rain (despite my best efforts to cover it with plastic); good thing i had my mirrorless with me. also, wendy hired a piper for the occasion (watch out for future pics!). next wendy took us to a glass blowing shop where we watched how unique glass vases are done, complete with how the colours are incorporated on a piece. it was watching art take its shape.
then off to the stonehouse vineyard. the owner told us the history of the vineyard, and the types of grapes they grow (adapted to the cold north american climate); we were left on our own to wander and take photos, after which wendy treated us to a sampling of the vineyard's star wines accompanied by cheese and crackers.
the day ended with a dinner at w&b's house, where wendy prepared a delicious dinner of spaghetti and meat sauce made from tomatoes she grew in her vegetable garden, downed with a bottle each of red and white wine from the vineyard. the meal was topped off with a to-die for blueberry pie that dora made, which i would admit, if i wasn't on a diet, i would have finished by myself.🤣
thank you, wendy, for organizing such a fun and memorable photo meet-up. thanks, too, to your husband bruce for being such a sport and tolerating the antics of the 365 people, especially your crazy houseguest! and i miss prince and shadow!
belatedly tagging this for week 34 of the 52 capture challenge, the theme was "gratitude". i am grateful for being able to travel, albeit within the province, and meeting great people with whom i share the love of photography.
