i went at noon to see the van gogh immersive exhibit. this kind of exhibits are becoming the thing, which is good for us 'ordinary' folks to get a look at the works of famous artists. i was told there is also one of warhol at the art gallery of ontario and i've seen advertisements of the monet experience soon to start at another venue. i'd be interested in seeing the warhol exhibit.
i've been up since three o'clock this morning, mostly because i was anxious about this, and now i can't open my eyes. i shall make my rounds tomorrow.
for week 39 of the 52 capture challenge. this week, we're 'looking in', giving a peek inside something.
I would love to see this one or the Monet one- but nothing is closer than 2 1/2 hours and then there's the cost of traveling and the ticket. Guess I'll just enjoy everyone else's pictures. Sweet dreams!
@olivetreeann - when you come to toronto (whenever that may happen), hopefully there will be one or two exhibits happening and we can go see it then. 😊
Lovely! The show here was best with all sorts of problems so I decided not to go. So expensive and so not worth having to go back a second time because the equipment kept failing.
I was wondering the same as @monikozi It seems I have heard of it once already (maybe @30pics4jackiesdiamond?) but don't remember exactly what I was told. Your preview looks fabulous!
Vikki! @Taffy took me to see this for my birthday present. It was so fun being in the middle of all that color and movement. I like how you captured the person relaxing in her circle as if she were lying under a tree in the painting. (What made you sleepless with anxiety? Being with people in enclosed spaces?)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond - "apologies for conversing on your photo's thread x" - that is quite the idea of this project.
@jyokota - i don't know, i was just so excited. i've been planning on going and kept putting it off. finally i booked my ticket and couldn't wait to see his paintings again. i've been to the van gogh museum in amsterdam 40-some years ago and enjoyed it immensely. and to see all the paintings again and in a different format, it was exciting for me. as it was, i was fifteen minutes late, but i had a VIP ticket so i didn't have a problem getting in line as i was ushered in pronto and given so many perks! thinking of going back actually.
i wasn't worried about people in enclosed space as i knew the exhibit room was really large and the circles were more than adequately spaced. also they were strict, a couple was turned away because they didn't have their proof of vaccination but since they had VIP tickets they were rescheduled.
My family saw this in Paris 2 years ago. The youngest grandkids were totally mesmerized by this exhibit. I will never forget their reaction to it. It really is very special.
@summerfield -- I went to the VanGogh museum in Amsterdam, too -- but about 30 years ago, so we wouldn't have run into each other. i'm so glad you were able to enjoy your visit to the immersive experience, we did, too!
@monikozi@grammyn In answer to your questions above, an immersive art experience is where you feel that you are part of the artwork. In the Van Gogh exhibit all four walls are gigantic projection screens. The paintings are projected on the walls and floor as you see in the photo above, but they move. For example, in his painting of cherry blossoms, the projected blossoms flutter and float down from the trees and drop on the floor around you. You feel like you are immersed in the painting and experiencing it. It's a really special way to experience the art.
@jyokota we had deck chairs to sit in!!!
@jyokota I nearly dozed off I was so comfortable!
@summerfield apologies for conversing on your photo's thread x
