i was waiting for my sister while she picked up her books at the bookstore at eaton centre and this view was before me. what to do but take a photo. for a friday afternoon, just before weekend, this place is usually teeming with shoppers.
but our so-called 'suffering' may be coming to an end rather sooner. on monday, our province will be lifting some restrictions to pave the way towards getting back to some sense of normal. reports say that by march 2022, around two years when the lockdowns and restrictions started, we would be mask-free.
What an incredible view and fantastic shot of it. As @olivetreeann said, so much to look at. Kind of a "Where's Waldo?" I think I've spotted him, BTW, in his striped sweater.
This is beautiful! We only have a few malls left. So many have closed because of online shopping and all the kind of outdoor shopping areas. This mall looks very high end!
You have chosen an amazing POV to show all three stories of the small so well! It looks like an amazing place to spend a large amount of time. I think by March Covid will be a conversation for the history books actually around the world. The last one took about two years to disappear in this one seems to be heading in the same direction
This shot is full of energy. I like the many layers, the modern architecture and the many patterns. My granny used to take me lunch at Eatons in Montreal when we visited.
@randystreat - kathy, eaton's is no longer, the company went bankrupt and closed in 1999. it was sad because it was an iconic store and they had good food aside from the fabulous shopping. this mall was named toronto eaton centre just because eaton's was a big name and easier to remember. the eaton's in montreal suffered the same fate and the mall is now also called eaton's centre of montreal, probably for the same reason.
what used to be the eaton's department store located at the north side of this mall (behind me) is now a cornucopia of stores like nordstrom, h&m (or something like that), old navy etc.
@monikozi - there are so many inconsiderate people here and they use all kinds of impossible and flimsy excuses. we foresee a lot of labour lawsuits as there are some people who refuse to be vaccinated because they say it's a violation of their personal rights, and some who would be fired from their jobs and would not be able to claim unemployment insurance. there are some also in a parish church who are forcing their parish priests to issue them certificates to exempt them from vaccination because of the information fed to them (from american podcasters) that the vaccines contain aborted fetuses. just the other morning, there was a 'karen' on the subway who smirked at people wearing masks. my naturopath doctor told me that she lost quite a few patients because they refused to be treated by her because she's a sheep to the government because she got herself vaccinated. but she has more client who would've refused to see her if she's not vaccinated, plus she is considered front line worker. but there are also front line workers who refuse to get vaccinated because they were told that the vaccine contained a chemical that is near in atomic number to a toilet cleaner and that it would in the long run give people cancer. i feel sorry for the others who work alongside them.
the young lady in this building who last year refused to wear a mask, was saying she won't get sick. well, she partied with her friends one weekend in august last year and a number of them got covid. i saw her dragging along an oxygen tank and when i asked her what happened to her, she said she just came from the hospital because she had covid. she would wear a mask now but said she still feels tired and get whizzy when she did anything strenuous. the sad thing is she now refuses to get vaccinated because of some superfluous stories she's heard. the sadder thing is that her mother is a doctor and would urge her to get the shots. i'm always in awe of how stupid human beings could be sometimes!
@summerfield holy guaccamole, Vikki. You have your share of stupid over there. I am in awe at the stories... You know, at least they have a story as to why they don't get the vaccine.
Over here, it seems to me that people don't even have that. They just refuse. And peopke are dying, and the government is asking the neighbouring ciuntries for oxygen supplies, and the ICU are full. This year, 3 or 4 ICUs burned down. With patients.
Well, I came to the conclusion that after all, everybody has a brain. They should use it as best they can. And the globe is also overpopulated. It's cynical, but it is the way it is.
And the hatred and menness this whole thing has led to, it is worrying. We are all so intolerant and people refuse to use their judgement: mist of them just listen to some voices and do not consider what they hear. They just swallow. And that is bad and sorrowful.
