a way to record your life or part of your life. kinda like a diary but not really. "the main difference between a diary and a journal is its use. a diary is a book that is used to record daily experiences and events as they happen. on the other hand, a journal is a personal and intimate record of your thoughts, observations, ideas, etc."
i used to have a journal to jot down ideas that would burst out of my brain, not necessarily brilliant ideas but ideas nonetheless. or i would write things i've overheard like one time when i was having lunch at the foodcourt, it was a bit crowded and a couple of young men sat in the table next to mine. one had ordered spaghetti with only one meatball. the second one said "it should be made illlegal!"
