At the end of the day you're another day older
And that's all you can say for the life of the poor
It's a struggle, it's a war
And there's nothing that anyone's giving
One more day standing about, what is it for?
One day less to be living
At the end of the day you're another day colder
And the shirt on your back doesn't keep out the chill
And the righteous hurry past
They don't hear the little ones crying
And the plague is coming on fast, ready to kill
One day nearer to dying
- les miserables, sung by the factory workers
this is so far removed from earlier in the day when thick clouds moved over the lake and sometimes hiding the sun. when the sun was setting, the clouds have mostly cleared except the low ones over the water and the sky took on a beautiful pink, coral and purplish hues.
i was going to save this for this week's start of the flash of red but it's a pity not to show the sunset's colours. i'm pretty sure there will be a better sunset in february that would be more suited for black and white. in truth, it's either this or the tulips again which have opened up and grown taller from the vase.
this morning, out of the blue i had an extreme pain in my right groin, without me doing anything, i was just standing debating if i should put up my hair or not. it was so painful i used all the expletives available in the english language and a sprinkling of french and german swear words. the pain slowly subsided and later on when getting up from my chair in the middle of a document, i noticed i had no more pain, nada, zero! not even a scintilla of pain or remnant of pain.
inspired, i went at lunchtime to test if i can start again my daily walk. well, not so. it felt raw and there is that nagging pain, you can ignore but you know it's there. so i thought i better not push it and decided i will baby it for another couple of days.
A fab sunset
