Well, the peonies are gone and the look of the garden has changed again thanks to the Lilies and Daylilies.
This is a Lily of the genus Lilium. I think it's "Orange Pixie". These Lilium are not to be confused with the genus Hemerocallis [Daylilies] which is a totally different plant. I'll post a pic of a Daylily later in the week.
Edit: I should add that the purple leaves in the background are actually that colour - it's a smoke bush. I did not alter the colour at all in this photo. The only edit was a crop, and of course my name.
@mimigd Aww, thanks Mimi! Sure appreciate it! It's a favourite flower of mine and of the squirrels too! I work hard to keep them from eating the bulbs!
@timandelke Yes, mine almost disappear each year but I manage to salvage a couple of bulbs by covering them with rocks right after the stocks start to grow. @ronah thanks so much Rona! Very glad you like it!
Smoke Bush leaves are a deep purple/wine color. We had one for many years. The blossoms remind me of a puff would blog them away. Maybe that is where the "Smoke" part of the bush came from.
@honestabe Yes, Abe, they're lovely. I had one at our old house and the leaves were darker, probably because it got more sun. This one sees a lot of shade so the leaves are greener. It's the same with our Crimson King maple ... green leaves because it doesn't see enough sun.
wow! anne, such vivid colour, and the lines are so sharp. when i see pictures like this, i look at the type of camera used and i go "i'm going to get me the same camera!" then i hold off, because i can't even master this little point and shoot i have. but really, this a a most wonderful shot.
@ronah thanks so much Rona! Very glad you like it!
