Wild Turkeys eat primarily seeds, nuts, acorns, buds, berries and insects. They have good eyesight and hearing. They are also swift runners and according to at least one web site, they are one of the fastest flying game birds, recorded flying 88 kph. I think this is a female and her wee one.
Many thanks for dropping by and thanks too for your input. I'm glad you all enjoyed the sunflowers as much as we did and I sure appreciate the kind comments and favs.
Great capture. They are awesome birds. I've seen a gang running through the woods full tilt not making a sound. I've also seen a gang of 10 fly straight up 30 feet to the tops of the trees when they were surprised.
Awwww, they are so awesome! I saw a wholewild turkey family---two adults, about 5 babies, crossing the street, but I couldn't overcome my excitement quickly enough to get a photo. LOL This is a really great one, Anne
Great Capture! Wonderful shot of the parent and lil' one! I have a gang of them at the feeder in the winter - not often do I see them in the summer. Nicely caught, Anne!
when they are so fast makes you wonder how we ever caught and tamed them1
