Awsome macro capture, Anne. With her wings slanted back, I think you have the front side, bent down to suck out the nectar. The front is the non-dangerous side. The rear is more pointed, is lighter colored than the head and has the potentially painful element of the stinger.
@morrisroos Thanks Don! I have a couple other pics I'll post in another album tomorrow - a side view and a front view. There's 3 gold bands behind the wing and two in front so this is definitely the back. I guess it's a bit of an optical illusion in this pic as the wings are actually pointing forward towards the camera. I love that you take the time to look at my pics and comment. It sure means a lot.
