5 Arch Stone Wonder by sunnygreenwood

5 Arch Stone Wonder

I believe this is the only 5 span stone bridge in North America. It spans the Mississippi River in eastern Ontario, Canada, not too far from home.

@Poppa posted the same view a couple of months ago and I didn't realize that until a minute ago when I went to his pic to get the stats ... 266 ft in length, 110 years old. I thought he had the front view! If you already saw his, now you get to see it in a different season. ;-)

Many thanks for dropping by.
Wow, what a beautiful bridge :)

A Stone bridge that has past the test of time!! You have to admire the architect that designed it! Love the composition of colours that you have framed the bridge with as well.

That is lovely............and looks very like Scotland! Not sure if we have 5 span stone bridges but must look up my book. My friend Clare's mum wrote a book on Scottish bridges and haven't looked at it for a while! :)

Great looking bridge with a lot of character. Isn't it cool that you can take one of the shortest strolls across the Mississippi? The farthest I've been up is 1st St in Minneapolis.

A stunning fall view of this old stone bridge. A lovely perspective. I wonder, however, if it spans another river? The Mississippi River starts in Minnesota and heads south. http://www.experiencemississippiriver.com/

Beautiful fall shot. I live by what they call the start of the Mississippi in Itasca MN. Must be a different one?

i've seen this about 12 or so years ago. i took a photo but using my instamatic the film of which when developed was overexposed and hence garbage. now, seeing this, i'd want to go back there again. the bridge is beautiful and made more so at this angle and with the fall colours in the background. great shot, anne!

@mwarren365 @denisedaly @jannkc Many thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment. Your support is so appreciated.

This Mississippi River is in Ontario, Canada. It is is a tributary of the Ottawa River, travelling 200 kilometres (120 miles) from its source at Mazinaw Lake to Fitzroy Harbour at the Ottawa River. There are more than 250 lakes in the watershed and several towns and villages including Lanark, Carleton Place, Almonte, Pakenham and Galetta. This bridge is in Pakenham.
