Mixed Up

These wild asters were growing in dappled light near the edge of the rock cut where I took yesterday's pic of the village. If anyone knows specifically what they are, let me know. I've been saying I need to learn more about the wild flowers around here. It's been a slow process ... ;-)

Many thanks for dropping by.
So pretty!

Those are an unusual variety, Anne. I don't recognize the fleshy yellow centers. Maybe aster umbellatus? Beautifully shot, though.

Well, whatever. . .they are lovely. I am having trouble with the wild asters right now as well - every time I look closely it seems that I've found another variety or shading!

@lynnb thanks lynn. they're pretty small, blooms the size of a woods aster, a bit bigger than a toonie, and maybe a foot or so off the ground.
