Redpoll by sunnygreenwood

Redpoll

Maybe this is an elusive Hoary. The beak looks shorter and the underparts are whiter and she seems a bit bigger than a Common. Any Redpoll experts out there?

Many thanks for dropping by. I'm glad to be slipping into February postings. Only 10 days behind now!
Beautiful!

So cute. It almost looks like he or she has a bow in her hair or I guess I should say in her feathers.

I've never seen a redpoll. I checked one of my field guides and see they are only in the northern part of US/Canada. Looking at the photos of the Common Redpoll and the Hoary Redpoll, this one photographed definitely looks more like the latter. I love that spot of red and how he is all fluffed up. What a fabulous catch....he's so cute!
