A 365 album wouldn't be complete without a pic of our provincial flower, the trillium. Everything about the plant is in three's, giving it a "Trinity" nickname. arkacomm.ca talks about the notion of not picking it. "Although it’s not against the law to pick a blooming trillium, it’s a practice that is frowned upon. There are two reasons for this. First, it can take a trillium plant up to 11 years to produce its first flower. Secondly, if the warning is defied and the flower is plucked, the plant that took so long to bloom would die, leaving the species at risk of extinction." We were taught as kids that it was i big no-no to touch them. I transplanted some that were going to be in the way of our house construction and even felt guilty about that! Old habits die hard.
What a wonderful shot Anne...I also grew up with very strict rules about picking them...but Dad transplanted a few into a remote area of our yard and they did well.
Beautiful! I remember my lessons from grade two - we were taught that it was against the law to pick one because it took seven years to bloom. Guess they got us at an impressionable age!
