Lady Slipper by sunnygreenwood

Lady Slipper

From the Orchid family, this Lady Slipper [Cypripedium pubescens] blooms in the woods around here but not nearly as prolifically as the trilliums. The pic I took last year at this time was a bit clearer so this pic is more to mark the occasion of this special bloom than to show any improvement in photography ... ;-)

Many thanks for dropping by.
Love these...makes me homesick for Ontario...though we have some nice ones here if you can get out to the mountains.

It's a beautiful flower. We used to look for them in New Jersey when I was growing up, but I never found one....

Oh-h-h-h-h, Anne, I've always wondered if anyone has REALLY seen these in the wild. How I'd love to have the experience! Lovely!

Beautiful specimen and photo! My mother just found a pink one in her yard. Wonder where that came from!

How interesting, but easy to see where they derived their name
