Balloon Flower by sunnygreenwood

Balloon Flower

I don't think this balloon flower [Platycodon] likes our growing conditions very much as the plant hasn't changed in size since I got it several years ago. It does give a few nice blooms each year tho, It's a dwarf version and is such a small plant, I'm sure I'm the only one who ever notices it so I'll thrown in this pic to show it off a bit. This is the bud stage, just before it pops open.

Many thanks for dropping by.
Excellent shot of the closed flower. Love the star pattern.

WE do hang on to our little teasures hoping they'll somehow put on a good growth spurt and come good. It never liked me either.

Hey! I just learned about these a week ago. My neighbor has some of these. They are mostly white, but there are hints of purple...especially when in bud form. I love how they make that hollow ball and then open. My pic is not showing much of the flower, it is showing the baby katydid on it! I love this pretty flower!

That is different, but pretty. It's funny how the petals form downward

Nice- we have them. The garden was lost to weeds for 6-7 years and when I brought it back to a flower garden we had 2 the first year now we have a huge plant that gets 4' tall. I think they seed from the flowers too? Heres mine last year
