The monkshood [Aconitum] that was in bud a week or so ago has opened. The lighting was best from this direction and I was too tired to move the wheelbarrow, so you get that too. lol
Monkshood has an interesting history - it's poisonous and at the same time, is used medicinally.
Interesting information on the flower, Anne. It is really pretty. Do they normally bloom this time of year? I saw one plant that looked like a daffodil with a flower on it yesterday which I was surprised to see. Maybe I'll post it soon.
@mittens thanks marilyn! yes, they bloom after everything else has started to turn brown. hard to believe they are so hardy. i would love to see your late bloomer. i'll watch for it!
I love this photo! The wheelbarrow gives an fun perspective! I read the link and found this to be an amazing plant. The beauty of it and the strength of it's medicinal effects is so very interesting! Have to fav!
Lovely closeup of the aconitum, which is one of the latest flowers in the year to bloom. It's a great colour and the blue of the wheelbarrow echoes it. Nice with the golden leaves too!
