Mayan Ruins, Belize by sunnygreenwood

Mayan Ruins, Belize

We had a snorkel excursion planned ahead of time for our visit to Belize. First thing in the morning we boarded a tender boat and headed off on a 20 minute ride to a snorkelling island, only to find out that the snorkelling was cancelled due to high winds. Plan B for me was to go rafting but we met up with some new friends and they wanted to visit some Mayan Ruins so Barry got his choice plan B for the day --- Mayan Ruins, at the end of the bumpiest 1 hr drive I've ever experienced. In this pic, Barry and friend Mike are at the very top of the ruins enjoying the view.

Many thanks for dropping by.
You went to Belize!! I was supposed to get married there (we have some Canadian friends who purchased two resorts down there). Plans changed and I went to St. Lucia instead but I still dream of Belize. ;)

It looks like an amazing structure, but I think I might not have attempted stairs quite that steep. I wonder what the Ancient Mayans would have thought if they could have looked into the future and seen this?

These are the same ruins we went to when we were there in '88. I remembered that we climbed all the stairs. What a great capture!!

This is a lot like the temples in Cambodia, wonderful places to visit. Great capture.

The ruins are so interesting looking. What a great capture, Anne. I would be afraid to go up there and I actually wouldn't even be able to go up there now. Anyway, it sounds like you are having a great time. Enjoy!

I bet a closeup of those stone walls would have made a good pic.
