At a glance it looks like this bird has a spotted head but it's water droplets. He/she was diving for lunch between takes! According to the Cornell bird site, a family of loons can eat about a half-ton of fish over a 15-week period.

Fabulous image of this gorgeous loon. No wonder he was diving so often...he must have to eat constantly to meet his quota of that half ton of fish per family. That's a lot of fish!
