Eastern Kingbird by sunnygreenwood

Eastern Kingbird

An eastern kingbird - quite a different view from the other one I photographed a couple of weeks ago. Here's some info from the Cornell bird site if you're interested: "During the summer the Eastern Kingbird eats mostly flying insects and maintains a breeding territory that it defends vigorously against all other kingbirds. In the winter along the Amazon, however, it has a completely different lifestyle: it travels in flocks and eats fruit."
Many thanks for dropping by.
Another great shot. Interesting info--I know lots of birds migrate long distances, but I didn't know they changed their diet and lifestyles, too.

Love the pov and detail. Sounds as if the winter behaviour of these birds along the Amazon is similar to what overwintering robins do around here--travelling in flocks and eating fruit.
