299 Km/Hr

The train ride from Xi'an to Wuhan was smooth ... and fast! The current speed flashed at the front of each car, topping out at 299 km/hr on our trip. According to one travel site, their top speed is planned to be increased to 350 km/hr [217 mi/hr] in 2016.

Wikipedia says that " China has the world's longest High Speed Railway network with over 19,000 km (12,000 mi) of track in service as of January 2016, which is more than the rest of the world's high-speed rail tracks combined, and a network length of 30,000 km (19,000 mi) is planned for 2020."
