Cool streaking, dark eye with light eye brow, more grey than brown .... my notes for identifying this as female merlin! I just wish I could remember more than I do for the next sighting. The Cornell birding page says that this bird, "like other falcons, is a strong and maneuverable flier. A typical flight speed is 30 miles per hour, and can be faster during chases." That's fast!

I don't see them often enough to remember their field marks either. I was surprised at how small the last one I saw was.
