A little bobolink for today ... a new bird for me so posted here to mark the occasion even tho it lacks the details I'd like to have in a bird posting. Here's a bit of info from the Cornell birding site if you're interested: "The Bobolink is one of the world’s most impressive songbird migrants, traveling some 12,500 miles (20,000 kilometers) to and from southern South America every year. Throughout its lifetime, it may travel the equivalent of 4 or 5 times around the circumference of the earth."
Great capture of a rare bird, Anne! You were lucky to see him/
They are considered to be either on endangered or threatened list here in Ontario. Their natural habitat is meadows or pasture and we in Ontario are losing most of ours to crop cultivation such as corn and beans.
We do keep some pasture on our farm, so I also see the Bobolink here on occasion as well.
