Some of the 47 or so locks along the Rideau Canal give quite a change in elevation, as is the case at this lock where we sometimes stop to grab some fries from the nearby Chip Witch! Poppa is off in the distance capturing the girls playing on the really steep hill!
The Rideau Waterway is just over 200 km long and connects the city of Ottawa and the Ottawa River with the city of Kingston and Lake Ontario. It opened in 1832.
