This Dark-eyed Junco doesn't even look flight worthy from this angle! They're quick to come to the feeder, slipping in and out between the Jays just after the seed first appears on the deck each morning.
The Junco is found across North America. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology says that "a recent estimate set the Junco’s total population at approximately 630 million individuals. The oldest recorded Dark-eyed Junco was 11 years 4 months old."
Magnify if you have a spare moment or even just open the pic --- more than half those who have commented in the first couple of hours just commented from the thumbnail. Now that's discouraging!
