Here's a pic of our Granddaughter's Concentration quilt, this time showing most of the quilt. I posted this view for someone who is interested perhaps in making one similar. Reba, our little 6 lb Maltese was very pleased with it and was reluctant to get off it. I guess I need to make another one.
@kbuehl here you go! ;-) .... birds, butterflies, dragons, pumpkins, sleighs, fish, ladybugs, treasure chests, crayons, bunnies, frogs, popsicles, drums, jellybeans, stars, strawberry shortcake, elephants, some canada stuff, snowmen, and more ... lots of fun buying material for this one!!!
This reminds me of a story that was read to me as a child. It was about a girl who was confined to bed and every day her Grandmother would tell her a story about any square that the girl chose. The fabric was all from dresses worn by the Grandmother when she was young. Lots of storytelling could result from your quilt!
Anne! Oh my this is beautiful! Thanks so much for the post! New baby not a week old, so will start making template and pattern - then shop for all those things you listed and then some! Marvelous and Beautiful Quilt!
this is beautiful - love the combination of prints of those squares. what a beautiful heirloom you made for your granddaughter. she will appreciate it when she grows up. well, that is if little miss reba ever give it up!
I love this quilt. It has such interesting patterns and reminds me a bit of one my grandmother made. As I child, I was facinated with it. The dog is a cutie and looks just like my daughter's little Maltese that she lost this summer.
@kbuehl if you're going to make a quilt like this, I suggest findng a quilting group that will do a fabric exchange. Each person buys four pieces of fabric and cuts two squares each for however many people are in the exchange. So if there are 20 people, you get back 80 different fabrics to use in your quilt. It's so much easier to buy 4 then to buy 80.
Anne, I love seeing the whole quilt laid out like that. The frame in the center really breaks up the lines and adds so much interest. Your granddaughter will love it.
Anne, thanks for sharing the photo of this awesome quilt. What a precious gift to your granddaughter. I wish I had the talent and patience to make something like that. Reba completes the picture. Gotta fav this one to capture these lovely patterns & that sweet maltese.
