No photos today, not even from VOF show, just wasn´t feeling the vibe.
I´ve been thinking a lot about crops and cropping, so I took some yesterday´s shots to editing and tried to find best possible crops for them as well as push the limits as far as I could. I find myself completely lost, I have no idea what works and what dosen´t.
Edit: This is pretty much out of the camera when it comes to colours,I really didn´t do much to them or add anything, the sky really was that strange! There´s a lot noise in this, I just couldn´t reduce it, cos it made this even darker - and I have pretty bright screen, so if it looks dark to me, it´s probably black to you.
I think this works well - I like the abstract quality, the soft edges and the change in colours. Interesting use of thirds too - I think you've made the most of what could have been a dodgy day.
This is one of the side-effects of 365 that I struggle with too. You can spend so long on a photo that as you say, you get lost and no longer know what works and doesn't work. When I get into this state of mind I take a break from the picture I'm working on and do something else for 10 minutes before coming back to it. Also I sometimes now leave it to the next day and see what comes in then.
You've balanced this one neatly with the vertical and horizontal lines. The composition is right. For me the bottom half of the picture is a little bit too dark but that may be just my screen. Your project is interesting and thoughtful so don't worry too much ;)
I also think this works and you were very creative to try something new. Still love the colors and definitely like the added lines...it has a surreal look to it. :)
@mercuria Thank you so much Ariel, I´m glad I´m not the the only one, or loosing my mind. I do have a slight brighter screen, and I don´t always remember that. The botton half is pretty dark even on my screen, I really appreciate your advise and I will try your tricks next. time. Thank you!
I like this "grid" concept a lot. The square crop is perfect for the shot, but I think you should have concentrated on the top part where the grid thingy is more apparent and you have the coloured blocks vs. dark lines -contrast going for you. The bottom part is very dark and I feel it doesn't add anything to the picture. But of course, if you could boost the background brightness at bottom somehow to same level than on top, the balance would be back IMO.
Good thing that you're playing and practicing, that's how you improve. And you have a good idea here, you'll find the shot where you can apply it again :)
@janim Thank you Jani, really appreciate you for giving me all that feedback. I agree with you totally, yes I should have and the lower part is defenitely too dark. I have a slightly brighter screen at home and I tend to forget that my photos probably look different to me than they do to others. Yes, no gain without the pain, fits here too, so I´ll keep on practicing,
