This lovely young lady is my niece. Unfortenately we have never been very close and I don´t really know her. I was so young when she was born and I have never been that close with my brother because the age difference between us. I feel like I got to know her a little better by photographing her.
@susale I would've been her history teacher, but I can't remember if I also taught her Finnish. :) I don't teach history (or Finnish) anymore, but those were my subjects when I still worked in Nousiainen.
How lovely -- she is lovely and the way you've captured her shows a lot of love and caring. What a great way to get to know her -- she'll value this shot forever.
Very niece! :) Hahaha I kill me.... anyway, I like this picture a lot because I feel like there is a connection between you two even without the eye connection. She seems like a cool, fun person to hang with :)
@janim Thx:) I like this too for the very same reason, she is in her own thoughts yet not lacking connection to the outside world or to me. She is very nice person but then again it kind of runs in our family, the niceness I mean. I originally thought of her for the get pushed challenge as "Aino" cos of the hair but it would have made the shot too similar to the original and I didn´t want to copy it. So instead I ended up shooting her hair blowing in the wind, I like those pics too but they are different in mood and the tranquil mood here appealed me so much maybe cos I too long for stillness of mind at this point of my life.
Great portrait . I can relate with the family issue. I decided to make a great effort to be apart of My neice now. I would say its never to late but thats not true. We have a limited amount of time here.
