Inter Arma Caritas by susale

Inter Arma Caritas

I had to google your title because I'd never heard it and the Latin was a little beyond my 46-years-since-I-learned it knowledge of the language!
So now I've learned something - thank you.
A thought-provoking capture as usual. The couple in the background seem oblivious of the implications of those canon.
Great composition.

@dulciknit Thank you, yes you have interpreted it very much the way I see it. I have studied some latin but have forgotten most of it; this however I remembered and I am just happy to have had a chance to use it. There´s something so mysterious and forbidden about Latin that it has always intrigued me, maybe cos it´s unspoken language and nobody knows for sure how some of the thing in the language goes

@susale It's interesting how sometimes Latin seems to work best to express an idea.

@dulciknit Indeed :)

Truly wonderful! Those 2 figures transform the meaning of this shot - it give me goosebumps! And I'm listening to Sibelius on the radio! Fav!

Wow

Great capture and processing :)

Beautiful capture and processing. At Rinella (Malta) there is the biggest front-loading cannon ever invented and you have reminded me that one day I have to go and take some shots of it to show.

Great pov and processing, and I like the couple with umbrellas away in the background.

Super dof

Fantastic contrast of couple out for a stroll and the symbol of military action. And the processing brings it out really well.

Latin was my best subject but I have to admit I couldn't' translate this! Caritas seems to have so many meanings! But looking at the situation I can see the interpretation! I think the vignette, the sepia choice and the scene including the people is wonderful! fav

@maggiemae Thank you so much for the comment & follow, indeed Caritas as well many other words in Latin can be transferred and interpretated in many ways and I am glad my intented meaning can be understood here, Latin was your best subject, wow you must be Super smart! I loved Latin but found it bit complicated at times :)
July 17th, 2015
@susale Not super smart - just liked my Latin teacher - who was Welsh!
July 17th, 2015
@maggiemae Oh I see, yes teachers can have such an impact in our learning the subject :) I studied some Latin at the University, long story....I studied ancient Greak and Greak Mythology as well - a phase of some kind, if you want to call it that ;)

Great shot :)

The image of war and then a carefree couple is such a great and simple statement. Walking away from war is possible.
I agree with you that Latin is almost forbidden. I never had the chance to nor took the time to learn it but think that I should.
