Carrington Pumphouse by susiangelgirl

Carrington Pumphouse

The landmark sandstone building in Cowper Street was built in 1877, to help develop the city's expanding coal industry.

It operated as the Carrington Hydraulic Engine House until the 1960s, powering the hydraulic cranes that loaded coal onto waiting ships at nearby Dyke Point.

It's screaming out to be renovated and revitalised.

What a beautiful building! We recently stayed for a long weekend in a beautifully converted pump house that someone had bought and rented out as a holiday let. So much character. Lovely building. You've taken it at a really nice angle.
