@peadar They are the spores Peter, I've never tried to propagate them, it sounds a bit tricky, much easier to buy another one at the garden centre!

@lovingandsharing Thank you Kay. I must say if I hadn't taken the photograph than I would struggle to figure out what it is! I'm busy on the laptop for work tomorrow, no time to go image hunting! I think I will add an easy not so close shot of the fern. Never have I noticed this detail before I got the camera!
