Inspired by a Photographer

My 52Frames theme this week was "Inspired by a Photographer." They have a random generator you can use to pick one, so I used it. The generator gave me Arnold Newman, a 20th century photographer most well known for his environmental portraits. He is also known for some abstracts and some early forms of street photography, but after spending most of the week looking for a suitable location, I settled on an environmental portrait, and decided to twist it up a bit with a self-portrait. As I was researching Arnold Newman and studying his work, his 1949 portrait of sculptor Jean Arp stuck with me, so I decided to try something similar - though here, of course, I'm using one of my wife's guitars. B&W treatment to try to match his works, though I think I ended up with a bit too much contrast, and a tighter crop than he would likely have chosen. But, I like it, or at least as much as I ever like a self-portrait (ugh).
very creative - could be album cover :)
