Nashville, the Athens of the South

In Centennial Park, near Vanderbilt University, Nashville has a full scale replica of the Greek Parthenon, complete with a huge statue of Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom and War.
She looks impressive.

@wakelys She was very impressive. Thank you!
@ludwigsdiana Thank you!
@pdulis Lol, no. The building was built in 1897ish, to commemorate the Tennessee centenial. At that time Nashville was known as "the Athens of the South." The statue was added later. Thank you!

We went to Nashville in the 90's to see Gibson which then had a workshop where we could get my grandfather's banjo converted from a Dixie to Bluegrass neck. That would have been something to see- but we were only there to pick the banjo up. Cool shot!
