River Camel at Wadebridge by swillinbillyflynn

River Camel at Wadebridge

Cornwall isn't renowned for it's vast sandy deserts..... or it's nomadic tribesmen....... or herds of dromedaries sauntering across Bodmin Moor. So quite how we ended up with a river Camel is a bit of a mystery to some folk.

Some will tell you that it is named after King Arthur's magical realm of Camelot. Cornwall is still to this day a land of myth, magic, mystery and legend so who knows what the truth of the matter is.

We do actually have a magical creature wildlife reserve here in Cornwall, where the Faeries, piskies, dragons, giants and unicorns all frolic and play in the warm summer sunshine..... but sadly we are not allowed to tell visitors where it is. However, if you find yourself wandering near the Cornish pasty orchards, the clotted cream reservoirs, the fudge quarries or the scrumpy cider springs. You may be on the right track.
You write so well, this is a lovely image but even better to read :) and if I ever make it down to Cornwall I'll be sure to look out for the Cornish pasty orchards, clotted cream reservoirs, fudge quarries and cider springs as finding that magical creature reserve would be, well, magical!

We once spent a weekend cycling the Camel Trail and surrounding area. I seem to recall that the Blisland Arms featured large in our itinerary. Cracking shot.

Did Cornwall make you a pirate, or were you lucky enough to find a place so suitable?

@tunia I've always been a pirate........ So I suppose it was inevitable that I would end up in Cornwall. :)
