There is an old Cornish legend that says many centuries ago, there was a flood of biblical proportions and a huge area of Cornwall, known as Lyonesse vanished beneath the waves. The only remnants of this land are the high peaks of it's hills which now form the Scilly Isles.
There are some who will tell you that Lyonesse is actually the fabled land of Atlantis, and others will claim that this is the lost land of Avalon which vanished in the mist.
To be honest there have over the years, been many relics dredged up by local fishermen which indicate that there are in fact many submerged villages beneath the waves all around the western waters of Cornwall.
This is both amazing and terrifying all at once... I love the thought of Atlantis and other mythological delights :) but I have a strange fear of depth in water (bathophobe/aquaphobe combo I think)... even this small gradual slope is scary to me :) but lovely blues it is producing!
