At one time there were many thriving mines in Cornwall and just as many thriving Methodist chapels. John Wesley scored a major success down here in, what was at the time, a very Pagan area.
These days most of the mine engine houses and the disused chapels have been converted into quirky houses or they lay all over the landscape as derelict reminders of Cornwall's industrial and religious past.
