There are hardly any fishing boats left in Padstow harbour these days. Rick stein has succeeded in gentrifying this pretty Cornish fishing village almost out of existence. Every other shop seems to be a Rick Stein shop and the harbour is crammed to bursting point with floating gin palaces. The Cornish refer to it as Padstein these day.
We shouldn't complain, as tourism is Cornwall's main industry at the moment and our local economy is totally dependant on it. However I can't help thinking that, if we lose sight of why the tourists come here, they will stop coming.
