I have always liked the way that the Cliff Path zigzags it's way up the sheer cliff face on the East side of Mevagissey Harbour.
Several years ago they pulled down an old dilapidated hotel at the top of path and a huge building plot has been sitting vacant there ever since. I feel sure there is some planning battle going on over this prime piece of real estate. There will inevitably be some developer who wants to build an aesthetically challenging modern block of very expensive apartments with panoramic sea and harbour views which will stick out like a sore thumb among the 18th century fisherman's cottages..... and there will no doubt be many objectors who would prefer something more in keeping with the historic surroundings of this ancient fishing harbour.
As is the way in these parts, palms will be greased, bungs and backhanders will be bunged and backhanded.......and the battle will be won by the highest bidder.
So beautiful.
