I love old graveyards, so many stories and so many interesting monuments.
I always find them a very peaceful place to sit and ponder life's imponderables. It is also a reminder of our own mortality and brings home the fact that we should cherish every day of our lives and loves.
Some of these graves are so old that there will be no living person who remembers ever seeing or knowing these people. The only evidence of their existence is a name on a stone and maybe a faded photograph in a shoebox in someone's loft.
It is sad but inspiring in a way. It makes me want go out and try to write great music or poetry or a book maybe. Perhaps take an iconic photograph perhaps, so that I will leave some mark on the world and the memories of future generations.
I find them a soft place to be.....peaceful, some people get creeped by them I never understood why.....different strokes I spose. Terrific capture of monuments to the greats that rest here
This looks like a very nice graveyard despite the fact that some of the headstones need to be stabilized. They are peaceful places, indeed....I have struggled with trying to make something and leave a legacy on this earth forever....don't really need cemeteries to remind me of that! ;-))
