It is interesting that when Christianity first came to England, it tried to incorporate many of the old Pagan traditions so as to attract the pagans into their churches. Many Medieval churches and cathedrals have some fine examples of the Greenman carved into their masonry. It always makes me chuckle to see an old Pagan God smiling down at me in a Christian church.
