Seedling by tara11

Seedling

I was walking around my yard for inspiration and came across this little guy a midst all of the dead leaves. Since it's not a pine, I think I'll let it grow!
That looks like it is a tree in the making. Hope it is in the right place in your garden!

Don't know if you've discovered this is Rhus Radicans, otherwise known as poison ivy! Also I notice you visited Auburn. If you have any questions, let me know. I moved to Auburn 37 years ago for school and never left. Have three kids in school there now! Enjoying your photos!

@canoninholster Wow - you went way back Greg! Thanks for the warning on the poison ivy, thankfully, I'm not allergic. Yes, my husband and I are techies but Auburn is close and I was trying to light a fire under my 17 year old regarding grades and college. Not sure we could afford out of state tuition, but I really loved the campus. It is very similar to Georgia Tech except GT is in the middle of the city and Auburn is in the middle of nowhere :) Thanks for taking a look at all of my photos.

@tara11 I was sitting at the hospital with my mother in law for 3 days. Looking at people's photos is a great way to pass time! I was jumping back on the month at a time and saw AU which caught my eye, and then the poison ivy which is next to it. I was in forestry so it immediately grabbed me, which is also why I know the scientific name! How nerdy! I feel your pain, both on the grade motivation and out of state tuition. My oldest two are girls, self motivated students that earned scholarships. My 16 year old son would quit school tomorrow if I'd let him. And all tuition is ridiculous compared to 30 years ago. I don't get it.

@canoninholster I know, right? I remember tuition at Tech being around $400 per quarter! Crazy now plus all of the competition to get into local schools due to Hope. I hope that your mother is OK.

@tara11 out of state at Auburn in 1975 was $364. In state this year is $4800 per semester. No way that corresponds with cost of living increases. I have several Atlanta friends that couldn't get their kids in UGA and sent them to Auburn and Alabama. Several of my Dalton classmates sent their kids here. My daughter wanted to go to UGA but didn't get a full scholarship offer, and made the choice to stay here. She's practical! Now she's thinking of law school over there. She thinks Athens is cool.

@tara11 sorry to veer off of photography!

@canoninholster Ha! No prob. Who knows where our kids will go. Unfortunately, there will probably be some student loans involved. We've been saving but like you said the cost has gone up more than cost of living.
