This is a shot of an Hydrangea that I have on my deck. It was a birthday present from probably 3-4 years ago. It's a surprise every year what color it's going to bloom. Last year it was purple and this year pink. I know that the soil is probably totally void of nutrients. I will definitely plant in my yard after this blooms.
@megmills There are two factors that affect flower color of hydrangeas: the amount of light the plant receives and the pH of the soil copied from : http://flowersbulbs.com/ql_hydrangea_color.htm. I haven't tried to manipulate it, just haven't taken care of the soil, so apparently the pH is very high to produce this light pink. Thanks for your kind comment Meg!
How pretty! Someone was just telling me recently what makes them change color and it did have to do with the soil and what was in it- but I can't remember the details- sorry!
