My son bought this chunky rusty chain and wheel home from work. He had been sent to fix a machine that was building something near St Kilda beach and they dug up these relics. Wonder what the history is? The wheel has a fair amount of sand and shells stuck on it and had been embedded in the shore for a long time I think. The chain may have been used as part of an anchor perhaps.
