I was challenged from @shannejw wasto take a HDR photo this week and process it.
I thought this would be far easier than it really was. I t took me three days of playing with the camera and trying to find something that needed the range to get it to work, and even then using affinity photo many of the photos had the whites turn out grey.
@shannejw Here is my HDR shot in response to your get pushed challenge. I thought it would be easy, but I was quite wrong. Between camera settings, incorporating electronic shutter, and finding subjects on an overcast day that need HDR, it was a challenge! Thanks!
that works really well, well done - did you enjoy the challenge and the results? (I end up using it more often than I probably should as I'm finding I'm often in situations where the dynamic range is so wide and I'm losing information in the image.)
wow 3 days to conquer - do you think it will take a lot less time to do this again because you learned a lot? good on you for taking on the challenge, I wouldn't have known where to start (ok google yeah I do know hahaha)
@shannejw I plan on continuing to try to use the HDR option more. I need to open my mind to a new way of thinking to better identify situations and creative ways to work in HDR. I also had to use a different processing software that I am unfamiliar with to process it which I need to get better at... either way there is lots of room to grow!
@koalagardens I learned a ton and have a HDR presets saved on a custom bank now, so I can easily use it more often. It also got me to use a new software package, I think if i have time I am going to dual process photos to get a better feel for both packages.
@shannejw I did see you gave some links, and of course you are not mean, I was totally loving the result and just thinking that I had to even look up what HDR means before commenting hahahaha, let alone how to do anything with it.
I totally love the amount of things I have learned here, and they often end up being things I wouldn't have even thought of trying to learn! @teriyakih ooooh I like that you could save presets to use again, that's neat! Some of the great things I've done have happened by watching tutorials, playing about, getting a great result and the next day realising I don't know exactly how I did it anymore ... oh well I get to learn things again next time ;)
