Brown Checkered Garter Snake

This tiny noodle (about 3-4 inches long) was attacking everything in sight! For size reference, those are a bed of pine needles it is on.

@milaniet I was being quite careful, but the size of it's strike range made it possible to get this with the 100mm lens wile stating out of its 3 inch strike range.

I was not able to identify it at the time, so I operated as if it were a baby rattlesnake.
