My wife has added four bird feeders to our yard this year and we are covered with a wide variety of new birds. This one is gorgeous but not one we have seen before. Can anyone help identify it?
Looks quite a bit like the purple finch we have here. Right shape and coloring - it's amazing how many different varieties of birds show up at the feeder.
My first thought was a purple finch, too. They look a lot like a house finch, but have more red. Very nice capture. You'll probably have a bunch of them move in; it looks like you feed them well.
