The easier way...

So they made 400+ square bales from the hay this cutting and more than 75 round bales. These guys are using a device that picks up the square bales (weighing about 70 pounds each) from the ground and it moves up the "elevator" to the top where they take it off and stack it. This is their 3rd trailer of square bales!
Wow! That’s amazing. So thankful for the great minds that create these machines!

Great candid shot

Wonderful improvement over throwing the bales onto the wagon. My Dad always made smaller bales to make life easier for us kids.

Tough job. So many particles in the air!

That sure beats the old way, doesn't it. More brain less brawn! Nice capture

Lovely sight and what an amazing thing to have machinery to do this job when not so long ago it was all done by hand!

Pat
This must be fascinating to watch. Such a busy time for them at the moment. Great shot of the work in progress.

Is it hay for cattle or horse feed? I’ve seen signs that advertise horse feed quality hay.

Those bales look heavier than that! Hard work for sure.

@casablanca Indeed!

@pattyblue Thanks! Yes, I much prefer watching and photographing than lifting the bales. :- )

@k9photo This will be some of both. There are areas in the field with more weeds and different kinds of grass. That will be for donkeys, goats, sheep and some cows. The square bales here are for beef cattle and, yes, horses, because it is of better quality and fewer weeds.

@kvphoto The get lighter as they dry. It is hard work.

A good candid shot of the action. Your BIL needed this contraption to load his hay.

@randystreat Thanks! Well, he only had 1/4 of the bales the other guys had AND his son, who is driving the truck in this photo, got out to load most of the bales. :- )
