I got another chance to photograph a controlled burn. They burned more than 75 acres in a stand of pine trees. It was a very smoky burn! This is a photo of the smoke in the trees looking down a "fire lane". If you look closely on the lane that is my nephew walking toward me.
75 acres in a day? Lovely photo which would stand alone, but expands with your commentary. The raking light down the fire lane gives it the lift which makes it special.
This is beautiful. I love the way the sun in shining in diagonal shafts through the tall trees. The path and person walking at the end of it just add another element of gorgeous. We've had a controlled burn here this week too. Thursday afternoon late it was so smoky that it caught in my throat.
@happypat Thanks so much, Pat! Yes, the burn is "very" controlled and necessary to clear undergrowth. While it was hot and very smoky, I felt very safe with the team in charge!
@randystreat Thank you very much, Kathy! This was 3rd time to go with them and I learned to get up wind to stay out of the smoke. I took more than a dozen shots trying to catch that sun through the smoke and this one finally lined up.
