From bud to bloom. These turned out to be Cosmos flowers, which, indeed, is a "wildflower" that has been domesticated. It closes at night and opens the next morning. Ours last a few days.
They are so delicate but bloom with vigor. They may have a second showing when the weather turns a little cooler toward the end of summer/early autumn.
